FASD Information & Resources
Trusted, up-to-date resources from across Canada to support individuals with FASD, families, caregivers, and professionals.
What is FASD?
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a diagnosis used to describe the impacts on the brain and body of individuals who were prenatally exposed to alcohol. FASD is a lifelong disability — but with the right supports, individuals with FASD can thrive.
Canadian researchers estimate that 4% of Canadians (approximately 1.4 million people) have FASD, making it more prevalent than Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome combined. There is no safe amount or safe time to drink alcohol during pregnancy.
Each individual with FASD is unique and has areas of both strengths and challenges. People with FASD possess resilience, strength, and abilities — and offer valuable contributions to their communities.
